Motivation keeps individuals alive. Every great accomplishment starts with the first step to try. Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.

ReplyDeleteThat is true... we are authors of our lives and have control over what we do. We have a choice... a choice to be a victim or a choice to succeed in life and in the classroom for teachers and students. Like in dangerous minds, Michelle Phieffer does a great job teaching her students to think for the themselves, and it about their effort that will have the succeed, not there lack of ability (which most of them attributed themselves in that way). We as teachers have choice to create optimal learning environments or we have the choice to go through the motions. And what we choose to do effects what our students do and how they are motivated intrinsically or extrinically. Are we choosing to reward ability or effort. Are the children starting with an A or do they loose points from the beginning. We as teachers have the ability to write new pages and chapters in the books of our students lives and we can start today, by writing our own page, reflecting on our motivation and choices we make.
